Turkey Cos. Says Hagens Berman can’t shield pre-client probe


Law360 (July 15, 2021, 6:41 p.m. EDT) – Major turkey producers like Cargill, Butterball and Perdue on Wednesday asked an Illinois federal judge to compel Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP to hand over a private detective’s filing covering the company’s price fixing support complaint, argue lawyer labor product privilege does not apply to investigations before an actual client.

In response to a motion to dismiss their subpoena for the investigative materials, the turkey producers responded with a double appeal brief and a motion to coerce the investigation file created by On Point Investigations LLC when the investigation firm was hired to deal with former employees of the defendant.
