The Lebanese Air Force this week Delivery accepted of six additional US $ 40 million MD-530F + light attack helicopters.
The attack helicopters are equipped with the Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System and are designed to improve the skills of scout and melee attacks. The helicopter has 62mm ballistic protection, FN Herstal .50 caliber machine gun capsules, M260 7-round rocket capsules, laser markers and Harris Falcon III radios.
The aircraft also features an all-glass cockpit with Genesys Aerosystems primary LCD displays, the Ares weapon management system, and the Tek Fusion mission management system.
The delivery of an additional six units of MD-530F + helicopters to Lebanon is expected to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities, particularly along the border with Syria.
Lebanon currently has a total of 12 MD-530F + helicopters. the first batch of six arrived at Beirut Air Base in October.

“Permanent partnership” with the USA
During an acceptance ceremony at Hamat Air Force Base, US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy C. Shea noted that the American armed forces have been working closely with their Lebanese counterpart since 2017 to ensure the efficient combat capability of military aircraft.
She also stated that the delivery of additional MD-530F + helicopters and other US military aid to Lebanon only reflect the “lasting partnership” between the two countries.
âWe continue to strive to pursue additional avenues around the [Lebanese Air Force]”Said the ambassador. “We know your country is going through difficult times … We are working aggressively to find solutions to these problems.”
In addition to new attack helicopters, the US government has committed $ 67 million in annual foreign military funding to Lebanon. The embassy also announced that the US has already allocated $ 120 million to the Lebanese armed forces this year.
