In separate messages to the leaders of Christian countries, the Iranian President congratulated them on the birthday of Jesus Christ and the beginning of the new year.

What follows is the text of his message:

“In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Merciful

On the anniversary of the birthday of the Prophet of Perseverance and Peace, Jesus Christ, and in early 2022, I would like to sincerely congratulate you.

The anniversary of the birthday of Jesus Christ is dear and happy for the Iranian people; And he is no less respected by Muslims than by Christians. He is the embodiment of the resistance against the oppressors and the inspiration for freedom in the fight against the dictators. This great prophet and his pure mother are mentioned many times in the Quran; Including:

“And on the Last Day Allah will say:“ O Jesus, Son of Mary! Think of my favor with you and your mother: How I supported you with the Holy Spirit so that you could speak to people in your childhood and adulthood. How I taught you to write, wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel “(Al-Ma’idah, verse 110)

Global developments, especially the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, have shown that the safety and fate of people are interdependent. The cooperation of the countries in this crisis, especially in the area of vaccination, against the reluctance of some governments to send essential elements in the area of health and sanctions to the nations, has clearly shown that a decent international system urgently needs rationality, justice and spirituality.

I hope that in the New Year, trusting in the moral virtues of the Abrahamic religions and in the light of the combined efforts of governments, the suffering and hardship will disappear from the world, the stability and resistance of the nations will be fruitful, and accordingly the gospel and promise Christ, Divine Providence that the righteous servants of God rule over the earth and that humanity may prosper.

Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran “
