Iran’s interior minister will visit Pakistan tomorrow

Iran’s Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi will visit Pakistan on Monday (tomorrow) at the invitation of Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed.

Describing the visit, the Home Office said Sheikh Rasheed will welcome the visiting dignitary at Noor Khan Airbase in Islamabad.

“Iran’s interior minister will meet several senior government officials during his visit to Pakistan,” it said, adding that a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan is also scheduled for Monday.

Sheikh Rasheed will also hold delegation-level talks with Ahmad Vahidi and discuss border management and prisoner exchanges between the two countries.

In October 2021, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphasized increased economic integration and regional connectivity for peace and prosperity in the region.

At a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Tehran said the interests of Pakistan and Iran are allied.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that both countries want peace, stability and prosperity in the region and recognize that we have an important role to play.

He said history will judge us because Afghanistan is going through a critical time and the people of Afghanistan deserve peace and tranquility. Qureshi said that we, as neighbors, would support them in these difficult times.
